Since it was approved, here's the post for it.
What'd ya think of season 3? Would you change it? How much fic fodder didja get out of it?
Anything else you wanna say regarding it? Besides our usual divergence of silly in other posts before we start doing the usual fun of writing fanfic to keep ourselves sane. *grin*
Ladies and Gents? Let's begin!
Also: Keeping my fingers crossed we get a season 4. :D

Date: 2013-08-22 07:14 pm (UTC)I like all your thoughts, I hope they do try to make some sense of the Damien stuff and maybe the Rachel stuff, but at the same time don't spend a whole new season letting them be a mess. They need to work out a way to sort it out, and decide who Damien is going to be, and what he's going to do, and hopefully it'll be something less weird than this year.
And yes, like you say maybe get rid of Rachel, because I have no idea what she's meant to be doing. (I know they won't bring Hanna back, but they totally could just have Infeld replace Rachel with her, say Rachel was involved in a big scandal or something, and then their show would make sense and they'd have a strong female character, who wears amazing clothes, and also wouldn't have abandoned all their non-white people. Or even if not that, they could put her in like three or four of the episodes as opposing counsel. I think that could work really well, although I suppose she'd have to lose which would be terrible. They could have cases with Damien vs her, though, and he would be so childish because she ABANDONED HIM and also cross because she's better than him, and she would just be beautiful and not care.)
I wasn't asked anything about Ellen on the end of year survey which surprised me because they were sort of suggesting she might be coming to work at IDK? I don't really know if that would work at all, I think she's best as a rival person, I don't understand why they'd want her to be on our side instead, they have too many characters as it is and they need SOMEONE to be in the DA's office.
I think stanton could be really cool next year, he was just a bit too uninvolved for me this year. Having him not be in charge of them works, but he could have built up his crazily complicated charity foundation thing by next year, and just show up to rope them into ridiculous cases for it every now and then, and Damien too sometimes. I don't mind him being in it less, but doing more than just occasionally popping his head round their door would be good.
If they are going to leave the beach house - although it'd be sad to say goodbye to wet suits - I'd really like it if we got to see Peter and Jared house hunting, and especially if a few people made pointed comments about how they are quite old to still be house sharing and Peter and Jared just blissfully ignore EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THEIR LOVE AND NEED FOR EACH OTHER.
And skiing would be beautiful, lots of chances to get lost in the cold dark woods and have your boyfriend desperately search for you on a skiing vacation. One of stanton's cases could involve them flying to switzerland or somewhere and settling some international dispute over whatever. Also maybe it could randomly involve them being handcuffed together.
Peter being concerned and NICE to Jared would be top of my wants. I loved how in the first season they were equal in looking after each other and being ridiculously nice to each other and now it all seems to come from Jared. Peter OFFERED HIM A HUG WHEN HE WAS FEELING SAD THAT ONE TIME, and also looked so worriedly at him when he was sad about his dad, but since then he's been a bit blasé about him and it's not fair. Although he did say he loved him in court this season, that was good boyfriending.
I think season 4 is about time that one of them defended the other one in court. So hopefully one of them gets sent to scary prison and the other one can't sleep or manage or think because they're working so hard to get them back. And then a reunion hug. And maybe with Leonard being involved somehow, or in another episode at least.
Mostly I just want 22 episodes and I don't mind what they do except I clearly do and might cry but so long as they keep it BEAUTIFUL I don't mind.

Date: 2013-08-23 09:49 am (UTC)Hanna as opposing council against Damien would be lovely because there would be pain and betrayal and Peter and Jared would tsk at her for leaving, but then she'd be amazing and they couldn't stay mad at her, they'd just be happy that she's in a better place. (and hope that they never have to go up against her, because she's an even scarier lawyer now)
I wasn't asked about Ellen either (only Charlie and Rachel... and I tried to be like 'they're fine, but I don't really care?') but yeah, she's better as a maybe helpful sometimes person in the DA's office. Unless they want to make her bros with Damien and have them sass Peter and Jared, because I could work with that. But no workplace romance between her and Jared.
It was so weird that Stanton was so uninvolved... there was, like, no point to it. Just oddness.
I'd really like it if we got to see Peter and Jared house hunting, and especially if a few people made pointed comments about how they are quite old to still be house sharing and Peter and Jared just blissfully ignore EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THEIR LOVE AND NEED FOR EACH OTHER.
YES! This should totally be a thing. Where people are all 'but maybe separate...' and they're both like 'nope. can't do that.' and then maybe they'd have a talk about how it could be weird that they don't live apart, and maybe Peter thinks about being heterosexual, and Jared is sad and confused, and they try to live apart... there's a whole montage of Jared walking into an empty room to ask Peter something but he's not there, and Peter calling out to ask Jared if he wants any oj before he finishes it but Jared isn't there, and takeout ordered for two when there's only one, and sad looks at the second video game controller sitting unused on the couch, all sorts of sad, single person activities... maybe while 'All By Myself' plays in the background.
And when they see each other at work they run to each other and Peter's all 'I take it back. It was a mistake. I want to live with you.' and Jared's like 'That was the worst night ever'.
They could so easily go through all the classic tropes on this show and they don't. Ski trips, lost in the woods, handcuffed together (Jared's a magician in training... there's no way he didn't cuff himself to Peter and then loose the key thus making them hold hands for an entire day). *pouts at writers*
Peter's the worst boyfriend at caring. Professing your love in open court is all well and good, but it's not concerned faces and worrying and maybe running fingers over the nape of Jared's neck...
Yes! Someone needs to be sent to prison. Probably Jared. And it's all a horrible misunderstanding, but the evidence is so compelling that even Peter thinks that maybe Jared did it. (where Peter pauses a bit too long before defending Jared and Jared's all 'you think I did it! and all hurt and everything and Peter's like 'No... but dude, it looks really bad...' and maybe Jared says something about wanting another lawyer and talks about hiring Damien instead and Peter's all 'do you want to be sent to prison?' and then defends him and figures out the misunderstanding and is super dramatic in court about how Jared's everything to him.) And Leonard could be opposing council, which makes Jared even more sad, because Leonard's just disappointed but says things like 'I knew your wild ways would eventually get you into hot water... more so than forcing a place to land.' but maybe he also doesn't try his hardest at winning because Peter goes to him and pleads Jared's case and maybe tells him off for being a lousy father.
Mostly I just want 22 episodes and I don't mind what they do except I clearly do and might cry but so long as they keep it BEAUTIFUL I don't mind.
Yes. This. I just need it back. It making sense would just be a bonus.

Date: 2013-08-23 11:55 pm (UTC)Also I would quite like it if they found a way for Stanton to be against Leonard in court, but I know I'm weird about them and they did kind of ruin my pairing a bit last season and actually the Leonard episodes necessarily need to be about Jared, but ALL THE SAME perhaps Jared has to be rushed to hospital because whatever ridiculous stunt they were trying tragically injured him, and Peter has to rush to his bedside, and so Stanton takes over the case and just hates on Leonard and totally out lawyers him and wins and then angry hate sex in the lift. Or something.
I know what you mean about Ellen and Damien working together, I'd forgotten you talking about that before but it would be super cool. If Damien could pull himself together enough to ever manage sass again, and isn't just drunk and crying in a corner somewhere about how hard life is for the whole of next year. (But I'd still have to vote against it purely because I think if they have space for an extra character at the office it needs to be someone not white and blonde.)
Jared's like 'That was the worst night ever'.
That made me laugh out loud. A whole miserable montage of their ONE EVENING apart would be a glorious unbearably perfect thing. It hurts me how much they're not going to give us that.

Date: 2013-08-25 09:02 am (UTC)It was so unfair of them to set up a thing between Stanton and Leonard and not follow through. And Stanton vs Leonard in court would be a thing of beauty. Esp if there's angry hate sex in lifts afterwards. Stanton mumbling dirty names at Leonard. Leonard being all uptight and all 'ugh, no wonder you wanted my son to work for you.' and yes that would be lovely.
I have so many feelings about the tragicness of Damien, though, yeah, they don't include him crying in a corner for the whole year. Maybe he could tell off a judge because he's still kind of drunk during court. Or partake in risky behavior.
(yeah... I don't know what they're thinking with just constantly introducing white blondes. like did they think that they didn't have enough already? Like they suddenly realized that there were three poc and they were like oops, viewers like white blondes... let's add two more and bump up one minor white, blonde character to frequently reoccurring ...it's like them thinking that viewers want heterosexuality. no one knows what we want.)
They should totally give us their one terrible evening apart. I don't understand tptb at all. *sigh*
